Generic Minimum Requirements (Applicable to All Posts)

  • Demonstrate competency in the specific functions of the post.
  • Hold a Senior Certificate (Grade 12) or a National Certificate (Vocational) recorded on the National Learner Record Database (NLRD) at NQF Level 4 or higher.
  • Be proficient in at least two official languages, one of which must be English.
  • Be a citizen of the Republic of South Africa, with documentary proof.
  • Hold a valid light motor vehicle driver’s licence.
  • Have no previous convictions or pending criminal, departmental or civil cases.
  • Not have visible tattoo marks when wearing any SAPS uniform.
  • Be willing to undergo a vetting process, including security screening and fingerprint verification.

Additional Requirements

Applicants must possess an applicable certificate or higher qualification (accredited by SAQA at NQF Level 5 or higher) in a Built Environment or Engineering‑related field, such as:

  • Project Management
  • Business Administration
  • Electrical
  • Mechanical
  • Civil
  • Structural
  • Or any other similar built environment qualification

Core Functions

  • Perform clerical duties within the project office.
  • Update the Project Management Dashboard and the National Treasury IRM system.
  • Provide project management support functions.
  • File all project deliverables throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Coordinate and arrange client meetings.
  • Handle all processes related to document control and transmission.
  • Prepare minutes for all client meetings.
  • Ensure gateway review templates are completed and filed.
  • Ensure all project documentation is properly filed and archived.
  • Arrange all site visits for project teams.
  • Assist project managers with risk registers and project dashboard compilation.
  • Update presentations and reports for internal and external purposes.
  • Assist with packaging bid specifications and tender documentation.
  • Assist project managers with stakeholder engagement and communication management.

General Information

  • Only the official SAPS application form for salary levels 2–12 will be accepted.

Selection and Vetting Process

  • Qualifications and driver’s licences will be verified with relevant institutions.
  • Short‑listed candidates will undergo:
    • Fingerprint screening
    • Reference checking
    • Address verification (where necessary)
  • Appointments will be made in terms of the South African Police Service Act, 1995 (Act No. 68 of 1995).
  • Short‑listed candidates may be required to attend a personal interview.
  • Successful applicants not yet appointed under the SAPS Act will:
    • Undergo a medical examination
    • Possibly undergo psychometric assessments
    • Be required to comply with SAPS Dress Order regulations
    • Be willing to undergo the Introductory Police Development Learning Programme

Additional vetting will apply in terms of:

  • Criminal Law (Sexual Offences and Related Matters) Amendment Act, 2007
  • Children’s Act, 2005
  • Domestic Violence Act, 1998
  • Protection from Harassment Act, 2011
  • Criminal Law (Forensic Procedures) Amendment Act, 2013 (DNA sampling requirement)

Candidates listed on the National Register for Sex Offenders or Child Protection Register will be disqualified.
