Applicants must be willing to work within the district where they are placed and physically visit farms and agricultural projects.


Minimum Requirements

  • Three‑year Diploma in Agriculture (NQF Level 6) or higher
  • Compulsory registration with SACNASP
  • No prior work experience required
  • Valid driver’s licence

Knowledge and Competencies

  • Knowledge of agricultural extension methodology
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Basic reporting and public speaking skills
  • Understanding of group dynamics
  • Ability to engage effectively with farmers and community clients

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in providing agricultural advice to internal and external clients
  • Support sustainable agricultural development initiatives
  • Assist with demonstrations of efficient farming methods
  • Conduct farm visits and assist with impact assessments
  • Support the development and implementation of farm business plans
  • Assist in organising farmer days, training sessions, and information meetings
  • Provide technical support to agricultural projects, food security initiatives, and land development programmes
  • Assist in mobilising farmers into cooperatives, associations, and interest groups
  • Support capacity building, aftercare, and revival of inactive projects
  • Assist in establishing and maintaining home gardens
  • Collect, analyse, and report agricultural data
  • Compile and submit monthly and quarterly reports
  • Maintain farmer databases and records
  • Ensure compliance with Public Service regulations and departmental policies
