The South African Police Service (SAPS) – Directorate of Police Crime Investigation (DPCI) is inviting applications for qualified Security Officers. The role involves safeguarding government premises, assets and personnel across multiple locations in South Africa.

Requirements
- Demonstrated competency in the specific duties of the role.
- Proficiency in at least two official languages, including English.
- South African citizenship.
- No criminal convictions or pending cases.
- Subject to vetting, security screening and fingerprint verification.
- Completed Grade 10 (Standard 8) / Basic Education (NQF level 3).
- Valid registration certificate with PSIRA (Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority).
- Possession of at least a Grade C security certificate or higher.
- Not declared unfit to possess a firearm.
- Willingness to undergo and maintain firearm competency training.
- Willingness to work shifts and extended hours.
- Degree/Diploma in security services, relevant courses and a valid driver’s licence are advantageous.
Duties
- Execute access control in accordance with the Control of Access to Public Premises and Vehicles Act.
- Identify and register employees, visitors and maintenance personnel.
- Issue admission control cards and maintain visitor registers.
- Authorize entry after confirming legislative compliance and host verification.
- Check suppliers, articles and objects entering the premises.
- Control admission of vehicles and equipment in the field.
- Guard vehicles and equipment; supervise cleaners/maintenance from a security viewpoint.
- Check security equipment and facilities; patrol buildings and fenced areas.
- Provide assistance to other security officers and report deficiencies.
