About the role

BDO South Africa is looking for a Pensions Clerk to join our Johannesburg office. The role reports to an audit senior and involves supporting audit work, keeping the senior informed, and ensuring all tasks are completed according to company policies.

Key responsibilities

  • Carry out audit tasks assigned by the audit senior.
  • Keep the audit senior updated on progress and any issues.
  • Document work accurately and follow company procedures.
  • Maintain accurate time records.
  • Ensure work is completed with integrity and ethics.

Competencies

  • Communicate clearly and promptly with the manager.
  • Address problems quickly and resolve them.
  • Follow up on outstanding work in a timely manner.
  • Adhere to the audit plan and sign off on it on time.
  • Record any over/under hours for management letters.
  • Complete audit tasks within deadlines.
  • Review audit work three days before project completion.
  • Supervise less experienced assistants when appropriate.

Qualifications

  • B.Com Accounting degree or equivalent.
  • CTA (completed or in progress).
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
