About the Job
You will receive 24 months of training in signalling functions, including Train Working Rules, to become a qualified Technical Worker. Your responsibilities will include:
- Maintaining and installing signalling apparatus
- Replacing broken signalling parts
- Completing R.C.M. task sheets
- Managing staff
- Testing equipment and parts
- Submitting potential failure reports
- Preparing vehicle reports
- Documenting outputs and time allocation
- Performing maintenance on signalling equipment and batteries
- Following safe working procedures
Qualifications and Experience
- Grade 12 certificate with Mathematics and Science
- Pass all modules in the Signal Technical Training programme
- Obtain a Code B driver’s licence during training (required for appointment after training)
- Free from claustrophobia and acrophobia
- Comply with depth perception, visual acuity, and colour perception tests
- Physically fit with good hearing
