Job Description
Signature Cosmetics is seeking an Accounts Clerk to support our accounts and finance department. The role involves handling a variety of accounting tasks, responding to queries, and ensuring accurate financial records.
Responsibilities
- Provide support to the accounts and finance team.
- Respond to general accounts queries, such as invoice questions and requests for Telkom account details.
- Escalate issues to the appropriate person when necessary.
- Handle store queries related to cash sales, speed‑point machines, and bank reconciliation checks.
- Capture monthly credit card statements in Excel, follow up on outstanding slips, and raise issues to the supervisor.
- Reconcile credit card statements and slips, and process journals in the F&O system.
- Process COD payments every Tuesday and Thursday, addressing any queries with the supervisor.
- Manage COD queries, including confirmation and proof of payment requests.
- Download bank statements and record details in F&O.
- Verify that all stores complete their banking as per the schedule and report non‑compliance to the Area Manager.
- Compare bank statements with daily sales reports for allocated stores and verify accuracy of cash and card payments.
- Investigate and resolve cash and card payment discrepancies, escalating to the Area Manager when needed.
- Access the Telkom account online, capture details in F&O, and load for banking once approved.
- Check petty cash usage for allocated stores, ensuring all slips are received and included in the daily sales reconciliation.
- Assist with financial year‑end processes as requested.
- Provide general finance and office support, including filing, data entry, answering phones, and processing emails and post.
- Raise any queries with the line manager or relevant position.
Requirements
- Matric (Grade 12) or equivalent certificate.
- Studying towards or holding a B Com, Diploma, or Certificate in Finance or a related qualification is an advantage.
- Experience working in an accounts department.
- Experience in general finance, administration, and accounts functions.
- 1–2 years of experience with reconciliations in a retail environment.
- 1–2 years of experience capturing and verifying data.
