About the Role
We are looking for one motivated student to join our engineering team as an In‑Service Trainee. Over a 12‑month period you will gain hands‑on experience in maintaining, inspecting, and repairing plant equipment. Your work will help keep our production line running smoothly and safely.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect building systems and equipment regularly to spot potential problems.
- Assist with routine maintenance to keep equipment running efficiently.
- Help senior engineers troubleshoot and fix malfunctioning equipment.
- Record all repairs and maintenance actions in the maintenance log.
- Analyse maintenance data to identify trends and suggest improvements.
- Support the development of strategies to increase equipment reliability and reduce downtime.
- Apply knowledge of electrical, mechanical, physics, and mathematics to diagnose issues.
- Follow safety protocols and industry regulations at all times.
- Work closely with the maintenance team and participate in team meetings.
- Contribute ideas for process improvement and support special projects.
What We’re Looking For
Qualifications
- Grade 12 Mathematics and Mathematics Literacy – minimum 40 %.
- Two South African languages – minimum 40 % each.
- Currently studying for a National Diploma in Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- South African citizen.
- Employment Equity candidate.
- Must not have completed the same qualification or learnership elsewhere.
- Must have been unemployed at the time of appointment.
- Age 18‑35 years.
