The Role
We are looking for a Coordinator for Finance and Project Support to join our EMS Department. In this role, you will provide leadership and administrative coordination for various financial activities, including budget management (OPEX and CAPEX), asset management, and procurement monitoring. You will ensure all projects stay within budget and comply with Rand Water’s policies while supporting the performance management of your section.
Key Responsibilities
- Budget Monitoring: Prepare annual budgets, track monthly and quarterly spending, and manage forecasts for departmental contracts.
- Financial Processing: Handle journals, charge-outs, petty cash, and income transactions related to sales and contracts.
- Project Support: Provide financial guidance for capital projects, including project closure and asset capitalization.
- System Management: Act as a SAP Superuser to manage financial transactions and assist colleagues with SAP and Maximo queries.
- Asset Management: Monitor and report on department assets every six months, ensuring warranties and allocations are correctly managed.
- Compliance & Audits: Ensure all financial activities follow legal standards and internal policies. Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and responses.
- Team Leadership: Supervise direct reports to ensure the team meets its targets and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
Minimum Requirements
- Education: A BCom in Accountancy with 2–3 years of experience, OR a National Diploma in Finance and Accounting with 4 years of experience.
- Technical Experience: At least 2 years of experience in the financial monitoring and reporting of projects.
- Software Skills: Must be a SAP Superuser with extensive experience using Maximo and MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Asset Management: Proven experience in managing physical and financial assets.
- Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead and supervise a team.
- License: A valid Code EB (Code 8) driver’s license.
