We are looking for a skilled Artisan Fitter to join our team in Cape Town and help maintain our high standards of production and efficiency.

Role Purpose

As an Artisan Fitter, you will be responsible for maintaining the overall effectiveness of our plant equipment. This role involves providing both electrical and mechanical support to ensure smooth operations and minimal downtime.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and repair plant machinery and equipment.
  • Identify and resolve potential machine reliability issues before they occur.
  • Lead problem-solving processes to drive continuous improvement.
  • Record and analyze machine breakdown trends using maintenance systems to suggest equipment upgrades.
  • Support ad hoc projects to optimize production flow.
  • Ensure all work complies with Food Safety, Health and Safety (OSH Act), and GMP requirements.
  • Coach and mentor apprentices, handymen, and technical operators on best practices and standard operating procedures.

Qualification Requirements

  • Matric Certificate.
  • N3 Qualification in a relevant technical field.
  • Valid Trade Test Certificate (Red Seal).

Experience Requirements

  • 5–7 years of experience in a relevant trade.
  • At least 5 years of experience in an FMCG (Fast-Moving Consumer Goods) environment.
  • Experience working with high-speed continuous operations.
  • Experience with flour milling equipment is an added advantage.

Skills and Competencies

  • Expert technical knowledge in your field.
  • Strong understanding of OSH Act, GMP, and Food Safety regulations.
  • Proficiency in pneumatics and maintenance systems.
  • Exceptional fault-finding and root cause analysis skills.
  • Strong communication and the ability to work under pressure.
  • Attention to detail and a results-oriented mindset.
  • Physical ability to work with heavy equipment.

Working Conditions

  • This is a shift-based position.
  • You will be required to work weekends and Public Holidays as needed.
  • Overtime and standby work are required.
  • The role involves working in a pressurized environment with heavy machinery.
