About the Organization

The Parliament of South Africa is the country’s legislature. It consists of two houses: the National Assembly and the National Council of Provinces. Parliament plays a vital role in creating laws and overseeing government actions to ensure accountability.

Job Summary

We are seeking a qualified professional to lead our public policy analysis, monitoring, and evaluation services. In this role, you will provide high-quality insights that help strengthen legislative decision-making and improve government oversight processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conducting detailed policy research and analysis.
  • Providing expert advice on public policy.
  • Starting and managing new research projects.
  • Coordinating and managing core business forums.
  • Monitoring and evaluating the implementation of public policies.
  • Managing daily operations, budgets, and financial reporting.

Requirements

To be considered for this position, you must have:

  • An Honours Degree or Postgraduate Diploma (NQF level 8) in Political Science, Public Administration, Public Policy Analysis, Behavioural Sciences, or a related field.
  • A Master’s degree (this will be an added advantage).
  • At least 5 years of professional experience in public policy analysis or monitoring and evaluation.

Skills and Competencies

Technical Skills:

  • Strong understanding of the legislative sector and its processes.
  • Expertise in research methodologies, data analysis, and statistics.
  • Ability to develop research briefs within a legislative environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Advanced M365).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong financial management and organizational skills.

Behavioural Skills:

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate teams.
  • High level of diplomacy, tact, and political acumen.
  • Emotional intelligence and excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Understanding of democracy and political dynamics.
