Role Purpose
As a Cyber Security Specialist, you will protect the Transnet Engineering environment by monitoring, detecting, and responding to digital threats. You will evaluate current security measures, identify vulnerabilities, and implement controls to prevent unauthorized access or data loss. As cyberattacks become more frequent, your role is essential in keeping our networks and systems safe.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor networks for security breaches and investigate any violations.
- Install and manage software and data encryption programs to protect sensitive information.
- Conduct penetration testing to find and fix system weaknesses before they can be exploited.
- Prepare detailed reports on security incidents and the impact of any breaches.
- Identify and mitigate security risks within applications and databases.
- Stay updated on the latest IT security trends and suggest enhancements to management.
- Help develop and implement security standards and best practices across the organization.
- Provide security awareness training to staff on new products and procedures.
- Work with internal and external stakeholders to ensure security compliance and risk management.
- Support the development of IT strategies, policies, and business continuity plans.
Requirements
To be considered for this role, you should meet one of the following criteria:
- Option 1: A 3-year National Diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, or Information Systems, plus at least 5 years of experience in ICT/Cyber Security (including 1 year in a specialist or supervisory role).
- Option 2: A minimum of 6 years of experience in ICT/Cyber Security (including 2 years in a specialist or supervisory role).
