Lesedi Local Municipality, located in the Gauteng province, is seeking dedicated individuals to join our team as Ward Based Educators. This role is focused on providing vital health education and community support within the municipality.

Requirements

  • Grade 10 or an equivalent qualification.
  • At least one (1) year of experience working in public service or with a Non-Profit Organization (NPO).
  • Previous experience with community-based projects.
  • Basic knowledge of HIV/AIDS. Training in HIV & AIDS counseling is a strong advantage.
  • Must be a current resident of Lesedi Local Municipality. Applicants must specify their Ward Number.

  • Strong ability to read and write.
  • Effective communication and engagement skills with local community members.
  • Ability to accurately capture, sort, and verify data on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
  • Ability to write clear numerical and narrative reports.

Core Responsibilities

  • Build community awareness regarding HIV/AIDS, TB, and STIs within assigned wards.
  • Promote behavior change to reduce new HIV infections through education and service provision.
  • Provide care and support to families affected by HIV/AIDS to reduce socio-economic impacts.
  • Encourage treatment compliance for individuals on Tuberculosis and Antiretroviral Treatment.
  • Promote healthy lifestyles and facilitate the acceptance of people living with HIV/AIDS.
  • Educate the community on government health initiatives, including HIV Testing Services (HTS), Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission (PMTCT), and Anti-retroviral Treatment (ART).
  • Identify and refer orphans, vulnerable children, and child-headed households to the appropriate services.
