Job Role: Assistant/Trainee Laboratory Manager

Location: Various Sites (Gauteng / Pretoria)
Job Type: Full Time

We are looking for a dedicated Assistant or Trainee Laboratory Manager to support our laboratory operations. The successful candidate will ensure all work meets safety and quality standards while helping the team achieve its daily goals.

Key Responsibilities

Ensure all laboratory activities follow health, safety, and accreditation regulations.
Verify that correct test methods are used and report any issues to management immediately.
Assist technicians with tasks both on-site and within the laboratory.
Manage administrative tasks, including payroll support and leave forms, to help the Laboratory Manager.
Take responsibility for laboratory operations when the Laboratory Manager is away.
Identify training needs and provide guidance to staff members.
Maintain compliance with the SGS management system at all times.

Qualifications and Experience

To be successful in this role, you should meet one of the following criteria:

A National Diploma (NQF 6) or equivalent, with at least 10 years of relevant experience.
A Grade 12 certificate (NQF 4) or equivalent, with at least 15 years of relevant experience.
Candidates may also be considered through Recognition of Prior Learning if they have sufficient skills and experience.

Specific Requirements

Complete familiarity with Civil Engineering Test Methods (specifically THM1 and SANS).
A valid Driver’s License is required.
