Role Description

We are looking for motivated individuals to join our Plating (Boilermaker) Learnership program at our Marikana operations. This program is designed to provide practical training and theoretical knowledge to help you develop a career in the engineering and mining sector.

Minimum Requirements

To be considered for this learnership, you must meet one of the following educational criteria:

  • Option 1: N2 certificate with passes in Mathematics, Engineering Science, Plating Structural Steel Drawings, and Platers Trade Theory.
  • Option 2: National Certificate Vocational (NCV) in Engineering and Related Design, with at least 40% in all subjects.
  • Option 3: Grade 12 with at least 40% in Mathematics, Physical Science, Engineering Graphic Design (Drawings), and a relevant trade theory subject.

General Requirements:

  • Must be declared medically fit for the specific work area.
  • Must have a clear security screening record.
  • A valid driver’s license (where applicable).
  • Previous experience in an engineering environment is an advantage but not required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Training: Complete all theoretical and practical training modules within the set timeframe.
  • Safety: Follow all health and safety (SHE) rules. Participate in risk assessments and ensure you use the correct safety equipment at all times.
  • Reporting: Provide regular progress reports to supervisors and communicate any challenges or ideas for improvement.
  • Teamwork: Build positive relationships with team members and stakeholders. Support your colleagues to ensure tasks are completed efficiently.
  • Excellence: Maintain high standards of work and align with the company’s values and international mining principles.
