The Role

We are looking for a Cyber Security Specialist to protect the Transnet Engineering environment. In this role, you will monitor, detect, and respond to digital threats. You will evaluate our current security measures and find ways to make our systems, networks, and operating technologies more secure.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor networks for security breaches and investigate any violations.
• Install and manage data encryption software to protect sensitive information.
• Write detailed reports on security incidents and the impact of any breaches.
• Perform penetration testing to find vulnerabilities before they can be exploited.
• Identify and manage security risks within applications and databases.
• Stay updated on the latest IT security trends and technologies.
• Develop and implement security standards and best practices for the organization.
• Train and guide staff on how to use new security products and procedures.
• Work with internal teams and external experts to improve our security framework.
• Conduct risk assessments and provide security designs for new projects.
• Help develop policies for IT risk, compliance, and business continuity.

Requirements

To be considered for this position, you should meet one of the following criteria:

• A National Diploma (3 years) in Information Technology, Computer Science, or Information Systems, plus at least 5 years of experience in ICT security (including 1 year in a specialist or supervisory role).
• OR
• At least 6 years of experience in ICT security or Cyber Security, with at least 2 years in a specialist or supervisory role.
