Role Overview
We are looking for a detail-oriented Admin Clerk to join our Finance team. This role is ideal for a motivated individual who wants to build a career in public service financial management. While entry-level candidates are welcome, those with a background in finance or accounting will have a distinct advantage.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 Certificate (Matric) or equivalent.
- A Diploma or Degree in Financial Management or a related field is an added advantage.
- Basic knowledge of financial systems such as BAS and SAP is a plus.
- Familiarity with relevant laws, including the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA) and Treasury Regulations.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well with people from diverse backgrounds.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
- A professional telephone manner and good document management skills.
- The ability to work independently, manage pressure, and use initiative.
- Knowledge of the Batho Pele Principles.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with budget allocations and capture financial data in the RLS01 system.
- Perform monthly reconciliations, including E-Receipting, BAS/SAP, and BAS/PERSAL.
- Support the Accounts Payable team and ensure supplier reconciliations are completed weekly.
- Capture weekly journals on SAP and clear suspense accounts.
- Ensure all payments are processed within the required timeframes.
- Manage Petty Cash, including recording receipts and handling monthly banking.
- Monitor and manage face value books.
- Prepare monthly reports on accruals and commitments.
- Participate in meetings, training sessions, and performance development reviews.
- Assist with general administrative tasks as requested by the supervisor.
