Artisan / Senior Artisan: Electro Mechanic (Non-Permanent)

About the Role

Sasol is looking for a skilled Electro Mechanic to support our production team. The primary goal of this position is to maintain electro-mechanical equipment, ensuring it remains reliable and safe. You will work to increase plant stability and maintain the sustainability of our mining and production facilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance and repairs on plant systems and electro-mechanical equipment.
  • Use maintenance documentation and work management systems to track progress.
  • Follow all safety management systems and emergency procedures.
  • Conduct risk assessments and identify potential hazards before starting work.
  • Participate in daily morning meetings to discuss assignments and progress.
  • Provide regular feedback to supervisors and planning teams regarding work status.
  • Participate in root cause analyses (RCA) to solve technical issues.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace and follow waste disposal rules.
  • Mentor junior artisans and share technical knowledge with the team.
  • Assist in developing work instructions to improve team competency.
  • Conduct physical inspections to maintain and improve plant performance.

Requirements

  • Education: Grade 12 (Matric) or an N3 certificate. You must have passed Pure Mathematics or Technical Mathematics, Physical Science or Engineering Science, and English.
  • Certification: A valid Trade Test Certificate (Millwright).
  • Experience: At least 1 year of relevant experience in a similar environment.

  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
  • Leadership potential, with the ability to act as a group leader when needed.
