Senior Specialist: Business Integration (Fixed Term Contract)
The South African Revenue Service (SARS) is the nation’s tax collecting authority. Established as an autonomous agency, SARS is responsible for administering the South African tax system and customs service. Our primary functions include collecting national taxes, duties, and levies to support the country’s growth.
Role Purpose
As a Senior Specialist in Business Integration, you will provide expertise and technical advice to ensure the sustainability of SARS software, systems, and technologies. Your role is to enable holistic business solutions that support our operations while minimizing risk. You will align various architectures within the Enterprise Architecture framework to ensure smooth technical implementation.
Requirements
To qualify for this role, you should meet one of the following education and experience criteria:
- Option 1: A B.Tech in Computer Systems plus 8–10 years of experience in an Integration or Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) environment.
- Option 2: A relevant IT Qualification or Certification plus 8–10 years of experience in an Integration or Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) environment.
- Option 3: A Senior Certificate (NQF 4) plus 15 years of experience in an Integration or Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) environment.
Regardless of the educational path, you must have at least 3–4 years of experience at a junior specialist level. You should also have functional knowledge of Middleware (such as WebSphere), Integration Design, or Development (such as IBM Integration Bus/IIB).
Key Responsibilities
- System Optimization: Analyze specialist systems and recommend improvements to procedures and practices.
- Technical Support: Identify, research, and resolve complex issues within the IT environment.
- Project Planning: Design and implement software and integration activities, ensuring proper change control and execution.
- Strategic Alignment: Translate high-level policies into operational practices and communicate the impact to stakeholders.
- Collaboration: Provide authoritative advice to internal and external stakeholders and share knowledge with the team.
- Governance: Develop and align compliance policies to manage and reduce risk exposure.
- Financial Oversight: Monitor costs and implement financial controls within your area of specialization.
