Maintenance Technical Assistant – KwaZulu-Natal (Durban)
Frogfoot Networks is a leading open-access fibre provider in South Africa, specializing in high-speed internet for homes and businesses. We are looking for a dedicated Maintenance Technical Assistant to join our team in Durban.
Role Overview
This role is perfect for someone who enjoys hands-on work and assisting with technical tasks. You will support our Fibre Technicians with network maintenance, ensuring our fibre infrastructure remains in top condition and our customers stay connected.
Key Responsibilities
- Support Fibre Technicians with regular maintenance and emergency repairs.
- Keep worksites (including manholes) clean, safe, and organized.
- Ensure all tools, equipment, and company vehicles are well-maintained and safe to use.
- Manage cable organization and help with accurate record-keeping and labeling.
- Perform OTDR monitoring and accurately save and report test results.
- Follow all safety (SHEQ) policies and procedures.
- Assist with fibre installations, cable pulling, and general field work.
What You Will Need
- Education: Grade 12 (Matric) preferred.
- Experience: At least one year of experience in a fibre, maintenance, or civil works environment.
- Certifications: CFOT certification is an added advantage.
Technical Skills
- Knowledge of fibre and cable installation.
- Understanding of fibre splicing and testing fundamentals.
- Experience installing ONTs and routers.
- Ability to troubleshoot and find technical faults.
- Basic computer skills (Windows operating systems).
Working Conditions
- This is a field-based position involving outdoor work.
- You may be required to work extended or irregular hours to meet operational needs.
- The role involves regular interaction with customers and internal teams.
