About the Department

The Department of Water and Sanitation is responsible for managing South Africa’s water resources. The department creates and implements policies to ensure that all citizens have access to clean water and proper sanitation services while promoting efficient water resource management.

Job Overview

We are seeking a qualified professional to join our team as an Assistant Director for Supply Chain Management. The successful candidate will oversee acquisition, logistics, and demand management while ensuring compliance with national financial regulations.

Requirements

  • A tertiary qualification in Supply Chain Management or Finance (NQF level 7).
  • 3 to 5 years of working experience in supply chain acquisition, logistics, and demand management.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a supervisory or management role.
  • A valid and unexpired driver’s license.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong planning, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
  • Hands-on experience with SAP and LOGIS systems.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA) and Treasury Regulations.
  • Understanding of the Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (B-BBEE) Act and preferential procurement policy frameworks.
  • Experience in contract management and strategic sourcing.
  • A professional approach to ethics, accountability, and customer service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage supply chain operations, including demand and acquisition.
  • Ensure all procurement processes align with project management goals and government regulations.
  • Supervise staff and promote a diverse, productive work environment.
  • Analyze supply chain data to improve efficiency and service delivery.
