Shop Assistant

Pepkor is the largest retail group in Southern Africa, operating over 5,400 stores across 10 countries. Our Speciality division focuses on launching and nurturing fashion and footwear brands. We are currently looking for a motivated Shop Assistant to join our team in Gauteng.

Role Summary

The Shop Assistant is responsible for providing customers with an excellent shopping experience. This includes sharing product knowledge, ensuring stock is available, maintaining a clean store, and staying updated on the latest fashion trends. You will also play a key role in minimizing stock losses.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality customer service at all times.
• Process customer purchases accurately through the till points.
• Help customers select products to increase sales.
• Ensure the sales floor is fully stocked and organized.
• Maintain store displays and ensure all items are correctly priced.
• Support the store manager with daily operational tasks.
• Follow health and safety regulations.
• Work toward achieving daily, weekly, and monthly sales targets.
• Assist with action plans to reduce stock loss.

Requirements and Skills

• Matric certificate (Grade 12).
• At least one year of experience in a similar retail environment.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to work well under pressure and manage time effectively.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Basic computer literacy and problem-solving skills.
• A passion for fashion and a “social-media savvy” mindset.
• Confident, decisive, and customer-oriented.
