Robben Island Museum is a public entity responsible for protecting and managing Robben Island as a National Estate and World Heritage Site. Established in 1997, the museum focuses on conservation, education, research, and tourism development to preserve the island’s historical significance.
Role Overview
The Company Secretary provides essential governance, compliance, and legal support to the Council and its Committees. The primary goal is to ensure the organization follows all relevant laws, regulations, and governance standards. This role supports ethical leadership and helps the Council make informed decisions through accurate record-keeping and professional guidance.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert guidance on corporate governance and legal compliance.
- Manage the effective functioning of Council and Committee processes.
- Ensure adherence to the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA) and Treasury Regulations.
- Maintain accurate records, minutes, and documentation for decision-making.
- Support the organization in following King IV, PAIA, and POPIA standards.
Requirements
- Qualification: A Chartered Governance qualification (such as CGISA or CSSA).
- Experience: At least eight years of experience in a Company Secretary or senior corporate governance role.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of the PFMA, Treasury Regulations, King IV, PAIA, and POPIA.
- Education: A degree in Law, Corporate Governance, Business Administration, or a related field is highly preferred.
