We are looking for a dedicated professional to join our team in Mpumalanga as an Assistant Director: Researcher for the Governance Cluster.

Key Responsibilities

As a Researcher within the Governance Cluster, your primary focus will be on the performance and service delivery of departments such as Provincial Treasury, Community Safety, and Local Government. Your duties will include:

  • Conducting detailed research on service delivery at both provincial and local government levels.
  • Monitoring and analyzing the performance of departmental projects within the Governance Cluster.
  • Preparing comprehensive reports and data syntheses to assist in planning and decision-making.
  • Providing technical guidance and methodological support to other departments conducting social research.
  • Liaising with stakeholders in sector departments and local municipalities regarding research initiatives.
  • Supporting the preparation of strategic publications and organizing knowledge-sharing sessions.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Education: A Bachelor’s degree (NQF level 7) in Public Administration, Political Science, Development Studies, Policy Development, or a related field. An Honours or Master’s degree will be an added advantage.
  • Experience: At least three years of professional experience in research, policy development, or monitoring and evaluation (M&E).
  • Skills: Advanced computer literacy and excellent communication skills (both written and verbal).
  • Flexibility: Ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and work beyond standard office hours when necessary.
