Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- An NQF level 6 or 7 qualification in Labour Relations, Human Resource Management, Industrial Psychology, or Law.
- At least 3 to 4 years of experience working with labour legislation and official guidelines.
- The ability to accurately interpret and apply workplace policies.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will manage labour relations and ensure compliance with all legal standards. Main duties include:
- Disciplinary and Grievance Management: Lead investigations into reported cases, initiate disciplinary hearings, and analyze misconduct to determine appropriate actions. You will also facilitate the resolution of grievances according to official rules.
- Compliance and Advisory: Monitor the implementation of collective agreements and ensure the department follows all labour laws. You will provide expert advice and training to management on labour-related issues.
- Legal Representation: Represent the employer in disciplinary hearings, conciliations, and arbitration cases. You will participate in meetings with trade unions and bargaining structures to discuss policies affecting employees.
- Reporting and Records: Maintain accurate registers and statistics regarding labour disputes and disciplinary actions. You will prepare and report findings to line managers and relevant stakeholders.
