We are looking for a motivated and professional Assistant Store Manager to join our team in Bothaville, Free State.

Role Overview

As the Assistant Store Manager, you will support the Store Manager in running a successful store. Your goal is to drive sales, build customer loyalty, and ensure the store meets all financial and operational targets while maintaining a high standard of service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Performance: Drive sales through promotional activities, cross-selling, and providing superior customer service.
  • Operations: Manage daily tasks including stock control, store administration, and minimizing losses (shrinkage).
  • Merchandising: Ensure the store is visually appealing and that all displays meet brand standards and promotional requirements.
  • Team Leadership: Support and lead the staff to reach their performance goals. Manage work schedules and ensure the store is correctly staffed in the absence of the Store Manager.
  • Customer Excellence: Create a great shopping experience to build customer loyalty and encourage participation in the Clicks ClubCard program.
  • Compliance: Complete administrative duties such as employee records and timekeeping accurately and on time.

Requirements

  • Education: Grade 12 (with at least 50% in Mathematics and English).
  • Qualification: A Retail or Business Management qualification is essential. A Degree in a related field is preferred.
  • Experience: At least 1 year of experience as an assistant store manager in a retail or FMCG environment, or completion of the Clicks Trainee Store Management Programme.
  • Financial Knowledge: Experience managing budgets and understanding profit and loss statements.

  • Strong understanding of retail merchandising and promotion principles.
  • Knowledge of labor legislation and people management.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet targets.
  • Computer literacy and strong numerical skills.
