Electrical Artisan (Dordrecht)

Emalahleni Municipality is seeking a qualified and experienced Electrical Artisan to join our technical team in Dordrecht, Eastern Cape. This is a full-time position focused on the installation, maintenance, and repair of municipal electrical infrastructure.

Minimum Requirements

To be eligible for this role, candidates must possess:

  • A Grade 12 (Matric) certificate.
  • An N6 Electrical Certificate along with a formal Trade Test Certificate.
  • A valid Code 10 Driver’s License with a Professional Driving Permit (PDP).
  • A minimum of three (3) years of post-trade test experience as an Electrical Artisan.

Additional Advantages: Candidates with a Wireman’s License, experience in Crane Truck operation, or certificates in MV Underground Cable Jointing, MV/LV Overhead Construction, and Terminations will be highly regarded.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be expected to perform the following tasks with minimal supervision:

  • Safely transport and install electrical equipment from storage to various work sites.
  • Handle electrical installations, including pole planting and the setup of transformers, miniature substations, and ring main units.
  • Construct and maintain Medium Voltage (MV) and Low Voltage (LV) overhead lines.
  • Perform cable jointing and terminations (both indoor and outdoor) for MV and LV systems.
  • Install, maintain, and repair street lighting and high mast lights.
  • Troubleshoot electrical issues within municipal facilities and issue Certificates of Compliance (CoC) where necessary.
  • Operate crane trucks during overhead electrical site operations.
