Key Responsibilities

As a State Accountant, you will handle various financial and bookkeeping tasks, including:

  • Managing expenditure and payment services.
  • Overseeing accounting systems for transfer payments and subsidies.
  • Processing Sundry (BAS) and Supplier (LOGIS) payments efficiently.
  • Providing comprehensive bookkeeping and financial accounting services.
  • Managing salary administration and debt management.
  • Handling banking and cash management tasks.
  • Providing supervision and guidance to junior staff.

Requirements

  • An appropriate 3-year National Diploma or B-degree (or higher qualification).
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in a financial accounting environment.
  • Knowledge of financial legislation and frameworks, including the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA) and Treasury Regulations.
  • Experience with financial systems such as BAS and LOGIS.
  • Understanding of the Modified Cash Standards (MCS) for financial statements.
  • Familiarity with performance management and labour relations.

Required Skills

  • Strong numerical and literacy skills.
  • Proficiency in computer applications.
  • Solid understanding of accounting, finance, and auditing principles.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
