Role Purpose
We are seeking a highly experienced Social Work Manager to lead social welfare services within the Child and Youth Care sector. This role involves managing a residential care center, ensuring the protection and development of vulnerable children, and overseeing the efficient use of departmental resources.
Minimum Requirements
- Education: A formal tertiary qualification in Social Work (e.g., Bachelor of Social Work).
- Registration: Compulsory professional registration with the South African Council for Social Service Professions (SACSSP).
- Experience: A minimum of 10 years of recognizable experience in social work after registering with the SACSSP.
- License: A valid driving license. (Provisions can be made for applicants with disabilities that restrict driving abilities).
Key Responsibilities
- Service Delivery: Provide advanced and specialized social welfare services focusing on the care, support, and protection of children and families.
- Program Management: Facilitate the planning and development of social welfare programs and interventions.
- Strategic Leadership: Manage service delivery units to ensure effective social welfare services are provided through efficient human resource management.
- Financial Oversight: Manage and utilize financial resources economically and effectively.
- Research & Administration: Plan and undertake social welfare research, perform high-level administrative functions, and stay updated with new developments in the field.
Core Competencies & Skills
- Knowledge: Deep understanding of social work assessment tools, the SACSSP supervision framework, and legislation related to child and community development.
- Management: Proven experience in personnel management and working within a Non-Profit Organization (NPO) or Child and Youth Care Centre (CYCC) environment.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Planning: Strong organizational, project planning, and conflict management abilities.
- Technical: Proficiency in standard computer software and information management.
