Pikitup Johannesburg (SOC) Ltd is the official waste management service provider for the City of Johannesburg. We are committed to providing world-class waste services to all residents and businesses. We are currently looking for 400 energetic and dedicated individuals to join our team as General Workers.

Job Overview

Purpose of the Role

The primary goal of this position is to maintain the cleanliness of the city. You will be responsible for street cleaning, refuse collection, and the delivery of waste bins to various locations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform street sweeping and cleaning in designated areas.
  • Clean refuse bins and ensure they are handled properly.
  • Collect and stack refuse bags on pavements for truck collection.
  • Clear any spillages that occur during waste collection.
  • Deliver new or replacement bins to customers and collect damaged ones.
  • Ensure all customers sign for their bin deliveries.
  • Wear protective clothing (PPE) at all times and follow safety procedures.
  • Report any safety issues, equipment damage, or injuries to the Team Leader.
  • Maintain a professional attitude when interacting with members of the public.

Minimum Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Education: Minimum of Grade 10 or equivalent.
  • Experience: At least 12 months of experience in cleaning or general labor.
  • Citizenship: Must be a South African citizen.
  • Residency: Must live within the City of Johannesburg (proof of residence is required).
  • Health: Must be physically and mentally fit to perform manual labor.
  • Background: Must have a clean criminal record.
