Role Overview

The Project Specialist is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing various PSETA projects. The primary goal is to ensure all projects are completed on schedule, within the assigned budget, and according to the agreed-upon scope.

Key Responsibilities

  • Planning and Reporting: Implement annual performance and operational plans. Provide accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual progress reports.
  • Compliance: Ensure all projects and unit activities comply with relevant laws, regulations, and internal policies.
  • Grant Management: Oversee the Discretionary Grant disbursement process. Establish clear standards and disciplines for managing these funds and other donor-funded projects.
  • Program Coordination: Manage skills development programs and work-integrated learning initiatives. Work closely with partners to ensure training activities meet quality standards.
  • Team Collaboration: Coordinate with cross-functional teams to manage project requirements, deadlines, and technical feasibility.
  • Administration: Review and quality-check internal submissions, external correspondence, and payment requests. Assist with contract administration and procurement processes.
  • System Development: Help develop project management tools and techniques to track performance, costs, and changes in project scope.

Requirements

  • Education: A Bachelor’s Degree (NQF 7) in Business Administration, Project Management, or a related field. A Post-graduate degree (NQF 8) is a strong advantage.
  • Experience: At least 5 years of experience in project management, including 1 to 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Expertise: In-depth knowledge of project management frameworks and practices.
  • Legislative Knowledge: Understanding of the Skills Development Act, National Qualifications Framework (NQF) Act, and SAQA regulations.
  • Skills: Strong presentation, research, time management, and leadership skills.
