Role Purpose
The Finance Assistant is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and related financial transactions. In this role, you will support the month-end closing process, ensure compliance with financial controls, and provide excellent service to both internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Accounts Payable & Receivable
- Process supplier and customer invoices accurately within the accounting system.
- Prepare and manage payments to creditors.
- Reconcile debtor and creditor statements and resolve any outstanding items.
- Maintain organized accounts payable files and assist with financial analysis.
- Handle vendor inquiries and help negotiate payment terms when necessary.
Financial Accounting
- Prepare and record journal entries based on source documents.
- Perform bank reconciliations and resolve any discrepancies.
- Manage VAT reconciliations, submissions, and payments.
- Calculate management fees and rebates.
- Assist with tax calculations and related filings.
Reporting & Controls
- Support the month-end closing process.
- Assist in reviewing and improving financial processes and internal controls.
- Respond to internal and external inquiries regarding financial functions.
Requirements
- Matric with Accounting, or a Higher Diploma in Finance.
- 3 to 4 years of experience in a financial processing or similar role.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and VAT regulations.
- Experience in financial services or asset management is an advantage.
- Previous experience with JD Edwards software is beneficial.
