Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Deputy Chief Engineer to join our team on a specialist contract. The successful candidate will oversee the design and implementation of critical water infrastructure projects, ensuring they are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest technical standards.
Requirements
- Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (B.Eng or B.Sc).
- Professional Registration: Must be registered as a Professional Engineer with ECSA.
- Experience: At least eight (8) years of relevant post-qualification experience.
- Technical Knowledge: Proficiency in Civil 3D and experience designing dams, canals, and pipelines.
- Regulations & Law: Solid understanding of OHS/Construction regulations, Environmental regulations, and Project Contract Law (GCC, FIDIC, or NEC).
- Leadership: Strong skills in decision-making, team building, and people management.
- Communication: Excellent technical report writing and verbal communication skills.
- License: A valid and unexpired driver’s license.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Advisory: Provide expert advice on the design of dams, canals, and other water infrastructure.
- Documentation: Prepare technical reports and tender documents to ensure fair and effective subcontracting.
- Contract Management: Oversee and manage contracts between the department and subcontractors.
- Quality Control: Monitor construction quality and report progress to management.
- Stakeholder Liaison: Maintain clear communication with clients, consultants, and subcontractors throughout the project lifecycle.
- Risk Management: Identify potential project risks and develop plans to solve problems before they occur.
- Project Planning: Sequence construction activities through method statements and ensure the project remains on schedule.
- Reporting: Compile detailed monthly reports covering technical progress and quality control test results.
