Job Overview

We are seeking a Research Technician to join our Crop Improvement team, focusing on Entomology. This role involves managing research projects related to small grain insects, conducting field trials, and ensuring high scientific standards across various production regions in South Africa.

Key Responsibilities

• Project Coordination: Plan and manage entomology projects, including technical risk management and coordination across different regions.
• Research Support: Manage field trials, monitor pests, collect data, and assist in the commercialization of research findings.
• Technology Transfer: Share technical knowledge and research developments regarding small grain insects with relevant stakeholders.
• Quality & Standards: Maintain high scientific standards and ensure all work complies with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Laboratory Safety: Oversee lab safety protocols and the proper disposal of hazardous materials.
• Development: Participate in human capacity building and focus on continuous self-development.

Job Requirements

• A 3-year National Diploma in Entomology or a closely related field (a BSc degree is preferred).
• 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in the field.
• A valid South African driver’s license.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong technical knowledge of entomology and plant production.
