About the Department

The Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment (DFFE) is responsible for managing, protecting, and conserving South Africa’s environment and natural resources. Our work is guided by the Constitution of South Africa, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for all.

Role Overview

The DFFE is looking for a qualified Senior Vetting Investigator to conduct field investigations and ensure security compliance within the department. The successful candidate will be responsible for gathering information, interpreting reports, and conducting interviews in line with national vetting standards.

Requirements

  • A National Diploma (NQF6) in Social Science or a related qualification.
  • At least three (3) years of experience in conducting vetting field investigations.
  • Completion of a vetting skills training programme at the State Security Agency (SSA).
  • A valid driver’s license.

  • Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of security vetting policies, public service prescripts, and fraud prevention.
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to collect, analyze, and interpret complex information and reports.
  • Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, especially in report writing and conducting interviews.
  • Leadership: Proven ability in planning, organizing, conflict management, and decision-making.
  • Professionalism: Ability to work independently or as part of a team under extreme pressure and handle long hours when necessary.
  • Computer Literacy: Proficient in Microsoft Office products.
