Role Description
We are seeking a skilled Artisan Plumber to maintain, repair, and install plumbing systems across our facilities. The successful candidate will ensure all water, heating, and drainage systems function efficiently while adhering to safety codes and hospital standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and repair plumbing systems, fixtures, and piping of various sizes.
- Inspect and service pumps, valves, water heaters, and boiler systems.
- Install new plumbing equipment, including supports, hangers, and fittings.
- Monitor work performed by external contractors to ensure it meets Plumbing Code requirements.
- Perform routine maintenance to prevent system breakdowns and emergencies.
- Test systems for leaks and ensure compliance with environmental protection standards.
- Diagnose complex plumbing issues and provide effective solutions.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs, materials used, and time spent on jobs.
- Manage inventory for parts and supplies.
- Respond to emergency repair calls and provide standby support.
- Interpret blueprints and building plans for new installations.
- Assist in preparing budgets and cost estimates for plumbing work.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric).
- NQF Level 4 Certificate.
- Qualified Trade Artisan in Plumbing.
- Completed formal Apprenticeship.
- At least 5 years of post-qualification experience in the plumbing trade.
- Proven experience in building maintenance.
- Experience working in a healthcare or hospital environment is highly preferred.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Must be available for standby duties and emergency callouts.
