Job Opportunity: Finance Internship

The Construction Education and Training Authority (CETA) is seeking motivated graduates for a Finance Internship based in Johannesburg, Gauteng. CETA focuses on skills development within the construction sector to help build a sustainable and competitive industry.

Role Overview

This full-time internship is designed to provide entry-level professionals with hands-on experience in financial management and administration within a public entity. Interns will work under the guidance of experienced supervisors and rotate through different divisions within the finance department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Handle entry-level financial tasks and administrative duties.
  • Maintain records, manage files, and respond to enquiries.
  • Support the unit with budgeting processes and data collection.
  • Assist in preparing monthly and quarterly financial reports.
  • Help gather information for audits.
  • Prepare meeting agendas and take minutes.
  • Create at least one presentation per quarter regarding unit activities.

Core Competencies

During the internship, candidates will be expected to develop:

  • A deep understanding of CETA’s mandate and the broader SETA landscape.
  • Strong theoretical knowledge of financial functional areas.
  • Familiarity with relevant laws and frameworks, including the PFMA, Tax laws, BBBEE, and the Skills Development Act.

Requirements

  • Must be a South African citizen under the age of 35.
  • Must hold a relevant qualification from a recognized institution (see list below).
  • Must not have participated in a previous SETA internship program.
  • Must not have been previously employed.
  • Must provide a detailed CV and a motivation letter.
  • Must provide certified copies of Identity Document and academic qualifications.

Preferred Qualifications

We will consider applicants with the following qualifications:

  • BCom in Financial Management
  • BCom in Accounting
  • BCompt or BTech in Cost and Management Accounting
  • National Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Cost and Management Accounting (or equivalent)
