The Limpopo Office of the Premier is dedicated to providing strategic leadership and management to ensure excellent service delivery. Our mission is to oversee provincial and national legislation to improve the lives of the people in the province.
Role Overview
The Deputy Director for International Relations and the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) is responsible for strengthening ties between Limpopo and other regions, particularly within the SADC countries. This role focuses on promoting the African agenda and managing international partnerships.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain strong relationships between Limpopo and other provinces within SADC and across the African continent.
- Identify and optimize economic and social opportunities within Africa and abroad.
- Monitor and track the progress of international agreements and memorandums of understanding (MOUs).
- Coordinate official international visits and maintain an up-to-date database of international missions.
Requirements
- An appropriate undergraduate qualification (NQF level 6) in International Relations, Political Science, Economics, or a related field.
- A minimum of five (5) years of experience in International Relations or APRM.
- At least three (3) years of experience must be at an Assistant Director or Junior Management level.
- A valid driver’s license (except for applicants with disabilities).
- A National Senior Certificate or equivalent.
Skills and Competencies
- Leadership: Strategic planning, people management, and project management skills.
- Knowledge: Deep understanding of South African Foreign Policy, the Public Service Act, and the PFMA.
- Global Awareness: Familiarity with international organizations such as the UN, AU, SADC, and SACU.
- Professional Skills: Strong research, policy analysis, financial management, and negotiation skills.
- Communication: Excellent interpersonal and facilitation skills.
- Adaptability: Ability to work under pressure and handle irregular hours when necessary.
