Post Basic Qualified Pharmacist Assistant – Klerksdorp

Dis-Chem Pharmacies, South Africa’s leading pharmaceutical retailer, is seeking a professional Post Basic Qualified Pharmacist Assistant for our Klerksdorp store. In this role, you will be responsible for providing high-quality pharmaceutical care and ensuring that all patient medicine-related needs are met with accuracy and professionalism.

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 / Matric
  • Post Basic Pharmacist Assistant qualification
  • Current registration with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC)
  • Practical experience using the Unisolv system
  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • Strong numerical skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent command of English (written and spoken) and a second language
  • Willingness to work retail hours

Advantageous Skills

  • Experience in Retail or FMCG environments
  • Knowledge of SAP and E-Scripting systems
  • Familiarity with family planning and complementary medicines
  • Fluency in a third language

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the sale of Schedule 1 and Schedule 2 medicines.
  • Prepare, compound, and label non-sterile medicines according to standard operating procedures.
  • Manage the distribution and control of Schedule 1 to Schedule 5 medicines.
  • Order medicine and scheduled substances up to Schedule 6 under the direction of the pharmacist.
  • Accurately interpret and process prescriptions, ensuring patient details are correctly captured.
  • Pick, pack, and label medication while checking for potential drug interactions.
  • Provide patients with clear instructions on how to use their medication correctly.
  • Handle medical aid claims, correct rejected scripts, and manage authorizations for chronic and specialized medication.
  • Assist with stock management, including receiving stock, merchandising, and participating in bi-annual stock takes.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional dispensary environment.
