Dis-Chem Pharmacies is a leading pharmaceutical retailer in South Africa. Since 1978, we have grown from a small family pharmacy into a national chain recognized for excellence. We are looking for a dedicated Cosmetic Frontshop Assistant to join our team at the new store in The Crescent, Umhlanga.

Role Overview

Your main goal is to maintain high merchandising standards and provide excellent customer service at the point of sale. You will ensure the cosmetics section is well-stocked, organized, and inviting for our customers.

Key Responsibilities

• Keep shelves fully stocked and neatly presented according to company standards.
• Monitor stock levels and ensure all products are within their “sell-by” dates.
• Process customer payments accurately, including cash, cards, and vouchers.
• Ensure all price changes and line voids are approved by a supervisor.
• Assist customers with product inquiries, advice, and authorized returns or exchanges.
• Pack and store incoming stock immediately to keep the shop floor tidy.
• Follow all cash-handling procedures, including using drop safes.
• Adhere to security, health, and safety policies at all times.
• Maintain the confidentiality of your till codes and passwords.

Requirements

• Education: Grade 12 / Matric.
• Experience: At least 1 year of retail experience specifically in Cosmetics.
• Certification: A certificate in Retail or a related field.
• Skills: Proficient in MS Office and basic arithmetic (addition, subtraction, etc.).
• Language: Fluent in English (speaking, reading, and writing).

• Knowledge of merchandising, planograms, and the FMCG industry.
• Strong accountability and problem-solving abilities.
• Honesty, trustworthiness, and good time management.
• Emotional intelligence and the ability to work well in a team.

Special Conditions

• Must be willing to work retail hours (weekends and shifts).
• Must have reliable transport or live near the store.
• Must be a South African citizen.
• A clear credit and criminal record is required.
