Retail Store Assistant – Parelberg
Dis-Chem Pharmacies, South Africa’s leading pharmaceutical retailer, is looking for a Retail Store Assistant to join our team at the Parelberg store in Cape Town. In this role, you will support store management by handling daily operational and administrative tasks to ensure everything runs according to company standards.
Job Overview

Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric) certificate.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Knowledge of SAP is an advantage.
- Previous experience in a retail environment.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service:
- Handle customer inquiries, compliments, and complaints professionally.
- Build positive relationships with customers and provide helpful feedback.
- Maintain efficient service levels to meet company benchmarks.
Financial & Point of Sale:
- Manage cash floats and handle any cash differences (shorts and overs).
- Process customer refunds and returns accurately.
- Ensure that returned goods are handled and restocked correctly.
- Manage branch change requirements to ensure cashiers have enough cash to serve customers.
- Prepare daily reconciliations and maintain document control for petty cash.
Stock & Administration:
- Verify all deliveries and invoices for accuracy.
- Assist with logging claims at the Distribution Centre.
- Monitor and control high-risk stock to prevent loss.
- Maintain clear communication and documentation between all relevant departments.

- Strong knowledge of retail administration and operations.

- Honest, trustworthy, and able to work well under pressure.
- Detail-oriented and driven to meet deadlines.
Special Conditions
- Must be a South African citizen.
- Clear criminal and credit record.
- Valid driver’s license and/or reliable transport.
