Job Purpose

The Food Safety and Production Assistant will help implement and maintain food safety, hygiene, and production standards. This role ensures the company complies with all food safety regulations and internal quality systems. You will support both the Food Safety Manager and the Production Manager by maintaining accurate records, organizing files, and ensuring smooth operations on the production floor.

Requirements

  • Education: National Senior Certificate (Matric).
  • Experience: At least 2 years of experience in a food manufacturing or FMCG (Fast-Moving Consumer Goods) environment.
  • Expertise: Practical experience with food safety, hygiene, and production processes. Exposure to HACCP, GMP, and food safety systems is essential.
  • Language: Proficiency in both English and Afrikaans.
  • Transport: A valid driver’s license and your own reliable vehicle.

Main Responsibilities

1. Food Safety and Hygiene Compliance

  • Help implement and maintain company hygiene standards.
  • Support compliance with HACCP, GMP, and internal safety procedures.
  • Perform routine checks to ensure all staff follow hygiene rules.
  • Identify and report any issues and help fix them quickly.

2. Documentation and Record Keeping

  • Keep all food safety and production documents organized and up to date.
  • Manage filing systems for the Food Safety and Production departments.
  • Ensure all checklists and forms are filled out correctly and on time.
  • Help prepare the facility for internal and external audits.

3. Production and Operational Support

  • Support daily operations to ensure product quality stays consistent.
  • Monitor the cleanliness and sanitation of equipment and work areas.
  • Guide production staff on safety and hygiene protocols.

4. General Administration

  • Provide administrative support to management.
  • Help with stock control and order cleaning and hygiene supplies.
  • Participate in food safety training sessions.
  • Assist with other general duties as needed to keep the facility running safely.
