Assistant Financial Manager (Gauteng)
We are looking for a skilled Assistant Financial Manager to join our team in Gauteng. This role focuses on overseeing financial reporting, ensuring regulatory compliance, and managing departmental performance to support the company’s growth.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Management:
- Oversee the preparation of accurate financial and management accounting records.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting packs for senior management.
- Manage the month-end closing process, including reconciliations and journal entries.
- Ensure financial systems are accurate by investigating variances and resolving discrepancies.
- Prepare annual financial statements in compliance with IFRS and local regulations.
Compliance & Tax:
- Manage statutory tax reporting and ensure the company meets all tax obligations.
- Maintain the financial governance framework and ensure ethical conduct across the organization.
- Monitor changes in regulations and update internal policies accordingly.
- Coordinate internal and external audits by preparing audit files and responding to queries.
Budgeting & Risk Management:
- Develop annual budgets and monitor spending against approved limits.
- Implement corrective actions for any budget deviations.
- Manage departmental risk frameworks and disaster recovery plans for financial information.
Team & Stakeholder Management:
- Lead and develop the finance team by setting clear performance goals and providing feedback.
- Manage recruitment and resourcing to meet operational needs.
- Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders, industry partners, and service providers.
- Monitor service level agreements with vendors to ensure high standards are maintained.
Requirements
- Matric (Grade 12) or equivalent.
- B Com degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
- Chartered Accountant (SA) qualification.
- 5+ years of experience in financial reporting or a similar role.
