Assistant Store Manager: Birkenstock Sandton

We are currently seeking a professional and motivated Assistant Store Manager to join our Birkenstock team in Sandton. This is an exciting opportunity to work with an iconic international footwear brand and help drive its growth in the region.
Role Overview
In this role, you will support the Store Manager in overseeing daily operations, leading a dynamic sales team, and maintaining high merchandising standards. You will focus on delivering an exceptional customer experience while ensuring efficient inventory management and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Sales and Business Development
- Communicate daily sales targets to the team and motivate them to achieve goals.
- Ensure every customer receives world-class service.
- Build relationships with local professionals, such as podiatrists and fitness clubs, to drive brand awareness.
- Help grow and maintain the customer database through regular engagement and offers.
Team Leadership
- Foster a positive work environment through daily meetings and consistent feedback.
- Train and develop staff members on product knowledge and sales techniques.
- Manage staff rosters and coordinate daily tasks effectively.
- Help control store expenses and manage staff-related costs.
Inventory and Stock Control
- Monitor stock levels weekly and place orders to ensure the right products are available.
- Minimize stock loss (shrinkage) and maintain accurate digital records.
- Oversee the delivery process, including pricing, tagging, and organizing the storeroom.
- Conduct regular stock counts and inventory reporting.
Daily Operations
- Ensure the store meets visual merchandising standards at all times.
- Handle store opening and closing procedures.
- Manage cash reconciliation and banking tasks.
- Prepare essential month-end reports.
Requirements
- Education: Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent.
- Experience: 3 to 4 years of retail experience, with at least 1 to 2 years in a management or supervisory role.
- Skills: Strong leadership, excellent attention to detail, and proven stock management skills.
- Knowledge: An interest in sports or footwear is a plus.
