Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need the following qualifications and experience:
- A valid Fitter Trade Certificate.
- Grade 12 (Matric).
- At least 3 years of experience maintaining and servicing Rope Shovel earth-moving equipment.
- A valid driver’s license.
- Strong knowledge of earth-moving machinery and troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with standard tools and maintenance philosophies.
- Basic computer literacy.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Key Responsibilities
Machine Inspection
- Plan and conduct health checks and visual inspections on new and used equipment.
- Follow technical manuals to identify issues and adjust faulty components.
- Report all findings, damages, or abnormalities to leadership.
- Suggest improvements to maintenance processes.
Troubleshooting and Diagnostics
- Identify equipment faults using root cause analysis.
- Prepare necessary tools and technical manuals for repairs.
- Compare machine measurements against manufacturer specifications.
- Order the required parts for work orders.
Repairs and Maintenance
- Plan and execute equipment repairs within workshop facilities.
- Test and adjust components to ensure they are fully functional.
- Perform regular machine services according to technical guidelines.
- Manage stock by returning unused parts and consumables to the warehouse.
Assembly and Disassembly
- Oversee the disassembly and assembly of new and rebuilt components.
- Work closely with the leadership team to manage work scopes and resources.
- Submit detailed technical reports after completing tasks.
