Role Summary
We are looking for a skilled Artisan Plumber to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, inspecting, and repairing equipment while following strict safety rules. You will work to maintain all facilities to high standards, ensuring that production continues without interruption. While you will work as part of a larger team, you must be able to perform tasks independently with high accuracy.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintenance and Installation: Perform mechanical maintenance, fabrication, and equipment installation. Ensure all facility plumbing systems are operating safely and efficiently.
- Plumbing Tasks: Read blueprints to plan layouts for pipes and drainage. Install fixtures like sinks, toilets, water heaters, and air-conditioning systems.
- Technical Work: Assemble valves and fittings, cut pipes to size, and test systems for leaks or other issues.
- Safety and Compliance: Follow all health and safety standards and ensure all work meets local building codes.
- Reporting: Keep accurate records of repairs, write problem reports, and perform regular inspections to replace worn parts.
- Teamwork and Culture: Collaborate with other contractors like electricians and pipefitters. Participate in continuous improvement activities and follow Ford’s core values of integrity and teamwork.
Requirements
- Education: Grade 12 (Matric) and an N3 Certificate.
- Certification: A valid Trade Test Certificate in Plumbing.
- Experience: At least 2 years of related technical experience.
- Additional Skills: Experience with boiler operations or wastewater treatment plants is a plus.
