The Role
In this position, you will support the department by managing legal documents and ensuring all contracts meet regulatory standards. Your main responsibilities will include:
- Assisting in contract negotiations and drafting, reviewing, and vetting legal documents, including Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) and Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
- Helping practitioners draft and update procurement contracts.
- Managing professional correspondence regarding legal disputes or breaches of contract.
- Providing essential legal support to various business units within the department.
Requirements
To be considered for this role, you must have:
- An LLB degree (or a qualification recognized by the Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development).
- At least 2 years of post-qualification legal experience.
- Sound knowledge of Contract Law, Administrative Law, and the interpretation of statutes.
- Familiarity with key legislation, including the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA), the Promotion of Access to Information Act (PAIA), and the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).
- A basic understanding of legal research principles and public service regulations.
