About the Role
The Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) is looking for a dedicated Assistant Director to join the University Academic Planning and Monitoring Evaluation team. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing academic qualifications and ensuring the quality of programs offered by higher education institutions.
Minimum Requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree or Diploma (NQF Level 6) in Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related field.
- A relevant postgraduate qualification is an added advantage.
- At least three (3) years of experience at a supervisory level within the Higher Education and Training sector.
- In-depth knowledge of the higher education sector, specifically regarding institutional planning, academic planning, and quality assurance.
Key Responsibilities
- Administrative Coordination: Manage the operational processes for university applications regarding academic qualifications and programs.
- Database Management: Process and maintain the Programme Qualification Mix (PQM) database for public Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), including tracking application progress.
- Stakeholder Liaison: Act as a point of contact for universities and education stakeholders regarding their PQM applications and academic developments.
- Monitoring and Compliance: Update records as qualifications are accredited by the Council on Higher Education and registered on the National Qualifications Framework.
- Reporting and Documentation: Prepare formal submissions, briefing notes, and documentation for meetings. Respond to parliamentary questions and general correspondence.
- Operational Support: Carry out additional tasks as delegated by management to support the department’s goals.
