Role Overview
The Gauteng Provincial Government is looking for a dedicated professional to join the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development. This role focuses on supporting the growth of the agricultural sector by helping small and medium businesses process crops safely and efficiently. You will play a key part in ensuring food safety standards and helping local enterprises thrive.
Minimum Requirements
- Education: Grade 12 plus a 4-year BSc Degree (NQF Level 8) in Agriculture, Agro-processing, or Food Technology.
- Experience: 3 to 5 years of working experience in an Agriculture or Agro-processing environment.
- License: A valid driver’s license is required.
Key Responsibilities
- Business Support: Provide technical support to new and existing small and medium businesses that process fruits, vegetables, and industrial crops into finished products.
- Project Management: Lead and manage projects that help stakeholders plan, develop, and operate their crop processing plants.
- Information Sharing: Work with national and local government departments to stay updated on industry trends, technical requirements, and safety measures. Share this information with local businesses.
- Compliance & Standards: Raise awareness about product standards, legislation, and official guidelines. Help businesses identify gaps in their operations and implement best practices.
