Requirements
To be considered for this role, you must meet the following criteria:
- A Grade 12 certificate plus a 4-year BSc Degree (NQF 8) in Agriculture, Agro-processing, or Food Technology.
- 3 to 5 years of professional experience in an Agriculture or Agro-processing environment.
- A valid driver’s license.
Key Responsibilities
As the Chief Food Safety officer for Animal Processing, your duties will include:
- Enterprise Support: Providing guidance to new and existing Small and Medium Agro-processing businesses within the animal products and meat value chains (e.g., leather tanning).
- Project Management: Assisting stakeholders with the planning, development, and operation of processing plants while ensuring they meet food safety and compliance standards.
- Information Management: Working with various government levels and veterinary services to stay updated on new policies, technical requirements, and sanitary measures to keep the industry informed.
- Regulatory Awareness: Educating the animal processing sector on product standards, legislation, and inspection procedures to improve productivity and provincial food safety.
