About the Position
The Gauteng Provincial Government is looking for a qualified professional to serve as the Chief of Food Safety for Compliance and Standards. This role is vital in supporting our mission to create jobs and grow the economy by ensuring high standards within the agricultural sector.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will be responsible for the following tasks:
- Provide food safety support to small and medium-sized agro-processing businesses across various value chains.
- Manage projects that help new and existing businesses plan, develop, and operate processing plants that meet food safety and compliance standards.
- Stay updated on new policies, technical requirements, and safety measures by working with national and local government departments.
- Share important industry information and trends with stakeholders in the Gauteng agro-processing sector.
- Raise awareness about food safety legislation, product standards, and inspection procedures to help businesses identify and fix safety gaps.
Job Requirements
To be considered for this position, you must meet the following criteria:
- A Grade 12 certificate plus a 4-year BSc Degree (NQF 8) in Biotechnology, Agro-processing, or Food Technology.
- 3 to 5 years of professional experience in an agriculture or agro-processing environment.
- A valid driver’s license.
